Chuncheon Makguksu & Dakgalbi Festival celebrates dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and makguksu (buckwheat noodles), two of the most famous specialties of the city of Chuncheon. During this festival, the area is full of booths selling buckwheat noodles and spicy stir-fried chicken. The festival offers plenty of ways to experience these two local foods.

Getting there from Seoul
Take the ITX-Cheongchun train from Seoul's Yongsan Station to Chuncheon Station, a ride of roughly an hour. From Chuncheon Station, a short taxi or local bus ride gets you to the festival grounds along the stream between Hyojagyo and Gongjigyo Bridges; express buses from Dong-Seoul Bus Terminal are also an option.

The festival takes place every January, when the famously pristine waters of Hwacheoncheon Stream freeze solid. Visitors can catch sancheoneo, mountain trout often called the "Queen of the Valley", through ice fishing or even with their bare hands. The freshly caught fish can be enjoyed immediately as raw slices or grilled on the spot. Beyond fishing, the festival features a wide range of winter attractions, including ice sledding, snow sledding, and bobsledding, drawing more than one million visitors each year.
