Overview
Grand Chrysanthemum Festival started in the autumn of 2004. Various chrysanthemum art pieces create a beautiful autumn ambience while the festival grounds are filled with diverse programs.
Why go
This is one of Korea's longest-running chrysanthemum festivals, held annually at Hampyeong Expo Park since 2004. Large-scale chrysanthemum displays and flower sculptures fill the grounds, creating a distinctive autumn setting.
Getting there from Seoul
Take the KTX from Seoul Station or Yongsan Station to Gwangju Songjeong Station (roughly 2-2.5 hours). From there, transfer to a local or intercity bus toward Hampyeong-gun, then a local bus or taxi to Hampyeong Expo Park.
Tips
- Admission is charged, so bring cash or a card for the entrance fee
- The festival runs 10:00-18:00, so plan your visit within those hours
- It's an outdoor event from late October into November, so check the weather and dress for cool autumn temperatures

The 2026 Mokpo Port Festival will take place from October 16 to 18 around Mokpo Port and Samhakdo Island. The festival invites visitors to journey through time and experience the history and culture of Mokpo Port through the Traditional Pasi, which recreates the excitement of a full catch and bustling seafood auctions, and the Modern Pasi, which offers experiences of the shops, streets, and everyday culture of the modern-era docks. Highlights include “Pasi: A Full Catch!”, which recreates the arrival of a stow-net fishing boat, the lively Pasi Auction Show, Retro Dockside Street, and Fish Market Street. These unique Mokpo experiences unfold throughout the festival grounds. Visitors can also enjoy Mokpo’s seasonal seafood, hands-on activities for families and local residents, and a variety of performances. Together, these programs bring the atmosphere of Mokpo’s historic port into the present, offering a memorable way to experience the city’s past and present in one festival.
