The Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale features a range of exhibitions and educational events. The event takes place at various locations in Korea famous for ceramics, including Icheon, Yeoju, and Gwangju.

The Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale brings exhibitions and educational programmes to Gyeonggi-do's ceramics heartland, spread across Icheon, Yeoju, and Gwangju. It's organized by Gyeonggi-do and runs from 18 September to 1 November 2026, centered on areas known for centuries of Korean pottery craft.
Getting there from Seoul
The festival spans three separate towns in Gyeonggi-do — Icheon, Yeoju, and Gwangju — so decide which venue(s) to visit before setting out. Icheon and Yeoju are reachable by intercity or express bus from Seoul's Dong Seoul Terminal (roughly 1–1.5 hours) or by train on the Gyeonggang Line; Gwangju is accessible by intercity bus or commuter rail from Seoul as well.
Tips
- Pick one venue per day — Icheon, Yeoju, and Gwangju are separate towns, not walkable from each other
- Buy the combination ticket in advance if possible; on-site price is 11,000 won (7,000 won discounted)
- Visit between 10:00 and 18:00, as that's the daily operating window

Yeoju Ogoknaru Festival

The 2026 Yeoju Ogoknaru Festival celebrates Yeoju's traditional culture and history, harking back to a time when local specialties such as rice and sweet potatoes were shipped from Jopo Quay as tribute offerings to the royal court during the Joseon dynasty. Highlights include the Royal Tribute Parade, Bibimbap with Cast-Iron-Pot-Cooked Yeoju Rice, Roasted Sweet Potato Guinness, Wish Paper Trail, and Nakhwanori, along with local produce markets, food stalls, traditional cultural activities, and performances. Visitors can also sample a wide range of locally grown produce and enjoy hands-on programs and family-friendly activities inspired by traditional culture. After sunset, nighttime programs such as Nakhwanori give the festival a different atmosphere. Bringing together the best of Yeoju’s local produce, traditional culture, hands-on experiences, and lively entertainment, the festival offers a memorable taste of autumn in Yeoju.

Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival

The Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival is centered on Namsadang Nori, which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It preserves and builds on the artistic legacy of Baudeogi, the first female kkokdusoe (troupe leader) of the Joseon era, and the vibrant traditions of Anseong’s Namsadang troupe. The festival offers a rich mix of programs for all ages, from traditional cultural experiences and performances by Korean and international artists to folk performances from around the world. Visitors can also explore the Anseong Old Market, which recreates the lively atmosphere of one of the three major marketplaces in Korea during the Joseon period. Highlights include jultagi (tightrope walking) and Namsadang Nori, giving visitors a close-up look at some of Korea’s most dynamic traditional performing arts. Performances that blend traditional and contemporary elements make the festival an engaging way to experience the energy and appeal of Korean culture.
