Getting there from Seoul
Take the KTX from Seoul Station to Busan Station (around 2.5-3 hours), then transfer to a local bus or taxi to Jillye-myeon, Gimhae-si, where the festival venue is located. Alternatively, a domestic flight from Gimpo to Gimhae International Airport puts you close to Gimhae-si, with a taxi or local bus needed for the final stretch to Buncheong-ro. Since the venue sits outside the city center, allow extra time for the last leg of the trip.

Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival

The Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival is Changwon's representative autumn festival, held since 2000 to promote the excellence of Masan chrysanthemums and boost their consumption. Masan is the region where Korea's first commercial chrysanthemum cultivation began in 1961, and where the country first exported chrysanthemums to Japan in 1972. Visitors can experience the history of Masan's chrysanthemum industry, which has grown based on its mild climate and cultivation techniques, as well as encounter various chrysanthemum artworks at the festival. Centered around chrysanthemum exhibitions, the festival features a variety of events including a multimedia fireworks show, a maritime fireworks display, and the Gukhyang Song Festival. Indie Music Festa, cultural performances by local artists, a chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition, chrysanthemum dance cheerleading, and hands-on experience programs are also prepared, allowing visitors to enjoy chrysanthemum artworks, performances, and food together against the backdrop of the sea.

First held in 2000, the Busan International Rock Festival is Korea’s first and longest-running international rock festival. In 2026, the 27th edition will take place over three days, from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4, at Samnak Eco Park, featuring a diverse lineup of Korean and international artists. Stages set throughout the park will showcase everything from emerging talent to world-renowned headliners. Beyond the performances, visitors can also enjoy a variety of festival attractions, including interactive games, food court lounges, camping zones, and other special side events.

The Moonlit Night Exercise Busan Challenge is a Busan-specific community sports program designed to encourage even citizens who are not accustomed to exercise or have little interest in it to participate in community sports activities in an easy and enjoyable way. Its goals are to expand citizen participation in community sports, promote health, and foster a vibrant nighttime leisure culture. Hosted and organized by the Busan Metropolitan City, this citizen-participation event utilizes outdoor spaces—such as Busan’s iconic parks and waterfront areas—to allow residents to enjoy recreational sports regularly every week under the moonlight on autumn nights.
